Devin Perras
Nautilus Nantucket
Wine & Beverage Director
What is there to say about Devin, besides his love of people, wines of all flavors and colors, his nieces and nephews, mezcal, and pizza goldfish? Let’s start at the beginning: He got his start in the hospitality industry working at a pizza shop in Southern New Hampshire throughout high school, eventually leading him to Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI to “study” Hospitality Management.
Always an island boy at heart, coming for summers as a precocious young lad, legend has it he took his first steps on the slow boat (his mom—Champagne Kathy—swears it to be true). Once solidly walking on two feet, Devin held a wide array of jobs around the island, including working as a stock boy at Lily Pulitzer (most likely the root of his dynamic fashion sense), and working in produce at Stop n Shop (the probable cause of his proclivity for hiding in walk-ins and eating fruit). Eventually, Devin would find his way to the restaurant industry, holding positions at the Taproom in 2005, as a pool boy at the Harbor House, working at the Wauwinet—where he discovered his passion for wine—and at the Boarding House/Pearl, where he ran the wine program for a number of years.
A fun fact: Devin was enjoying a bit of downtime during a break at The Pearl when he received a call from Steve Bowler, on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend 2013, asking for his help checking-in the opening liquor/wine order for The Nautilus. The rest, as they say, is history, with Devin still receiving calls from Steve at the most inopportune times (just kidding). He began working at The Nautilus in 2019, coinciding with the opening of the Gaslight, and leading to him running the wine programs for both places.
When Devin isn’t working—which is a rarity—he can be found coaching High School Baseball, traveling outside the country (big South of the Border guy), beating people in tennis, reading, or hoping for the over to hit in some random college football game.
